Tampa Bay Division: Electric Fences?

St. Petersburg City Council has been asked to consider allowing land zoned for industrial use to be protected by electric fences. City Council discussed the idea and then sent it back to committee for further discussion. The potential for trouble is obvious for this protection. There are a number of cities in Florida that do allow electric fences but it is not a commonly approved use. Warning signs and protection for innocent people will have to be a high priority. With the technology available today which is very good and relatively inexpensive it seems unlikely that this draconian measure of protection will be allowed other than in extreme circumstances.
