Piracy on High Seas Reduced

Efforts by the international community has significantly reduced the cost of piracy particularly off the Somali coast.  The ransom paid has been reduced by almost 50% in 2013 from previous years. We may think that these crimes occurring on the other side of the world don’t affect us but they do. We are clearly in a global market and what happens in China, South Africa or anywhere else in the world affects us. International cooperation and enforcement are necessary for orderly conduct of business and travel.
