The Retail Industry Leaders Association has established a center to share information on cyber attacks targeting their businesses. Recently large retailers such as Target, Nike and Lowes have been subject to attacks on their data. The large retailers and banks have certainly been aware of this increasing threat for a very long time and have implemented a number of defenses however the sophistication of the cyber criminals is also increasing. In an earlier blog we have mentioned that the crimes of the future are less likely to be violent attack or robberies at the cash register but attacks on the business data. This accompanied with jurisdictional complexities of prosecution will continue to frustrate customers, businesses and regulators.
