Recently police departments have felt the frustration with misconduct by their officers. We are seeing that the public is demanding greater accountability for its officers. Officers cameras are becoming more the norm than the exceptional. This will protect the good officers from false accusations while protecting the public from bad officers. One of the “mutations” of police officers looking out for each other is that it became a blanket “get out of jail” card for bad officers to use under the guise of loyalty. It is the poor officers that get good officers hurt. They cause distrust and resentment among the public only to have it manifest itself on good unsuspecting officers who become the victims of bad conduct. Police officers have to be significantly more proactive in getting rid of bad officers. It’s bad for them and they are bad for the public. The sooner that the bad officers are gone the better it will be for everyone.
