The Department of Homeland Security Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team has received twice the number of inquiries since 2012. As reported in earlier blogs, the threat to public and private computer programs is real and is increasing. The sophistication of people wanting to access our programs is increasing. The threats from cyber crime is where we must put our attention, our energy and our money. Too many of our middle managers seem to have become complacent in protecting their companies from this kind of risk. It may be easier to understand and protect our interests from a loss of product than it is from the unseen threat of a loss or destruction of our data. We should ask ourselves; what is the consequence of error. What are the costs of being wrong? We ALL must begin the process!
