Orlando Division: Are we policing like it was still 1999?

Are we still policing and providing Security Services like it was 1999.. I think so. Times have changed significantly in the last 15 years. Crime is down in the industrialized world. Even criminals have on the most part developed computer skills and are more interested in stealing your identity than they are is stealing your wallet: It is so much safer, easier and harder to detect. Society will always need uniform officers to respond to basic security needs and the ability to control unruly groups of people but one is more likely to become a victim of a cyber crime than a physical one. In order to deal with the new threat to our citizens we must adapt new technology and more importantly a new attitude towards who is a victim and how do we protect our citizens. This is a new world with new threats; we must catch up. As they often criticize military leadership of preparing for the last war, we must not do the same thing by preparing for crimes that don’t exist to the extent they did in 1999.
