Miami Division: Security Officer Employment is Growing

Since 9/11 private Safety/Security officer employment has grown dramatically with the exception during the near economic collapse of 2008. Private Safety/Security Officers now employ four times the number of public police officers in America. The Security business employes 20 percent more officer now than we did in 2004. We are seeing an increase due to the public’s increased awareness due to the violence at places like Newtown, Connecticut  and Aurora, Colorado. The most recent acts of random violence have come from individuals who are self radicalizing in America and attacking our police and military personal. Canada has also suffered from these “mad dogs” with attacks in the Province of Quebec and the attack on Parliament.  One of the good consequences of the military coming out of war zones is that many former military personal are finding their way into the private sector. This will provide them with a business to apply some of the skills they have learned while providing Safety/Security companies with highly trained and motivated Officers.
