Miami Division: Are We Ready for a President Trump?

The American election will give us either a traditional competent politician or a reactionary president. With Hillary Clinton we know that she has tremendous history with governance and international relationships. With the Donald Trump we are getting a very strong brand but not a traditional politician. My concern is with the unknown; Trump. Will he be able to moderate his view convincingly or will so many of the institution’s, traditions and international relationships falter? I am nervous about men like Trump because I don’t if what he says, he REALLY believes. Is he just reinforcing the brand. Will this branding of the president be a negotiating advantage. We have to go to Ronald Regan’s presidency to find anything close to this. Regan said and did some incredibly incendiary things while president and yet we not only survived, we thrived. The world does need to shake up the political status quo as it is not working well for some groups of people. We have to remember that the system, however awkward, unjust and uneven as it is still produces an ever increasingly safe and prosperous world. Perhaps the world would survive a President Trump after all.
