Marketing Safety/Security Services has changed significantly since Curtis Protective Services started business in 1996. Up until 2008 security companies basically provided similar services all over the industrialized world. Business was predicable and generally easy to run. Keep to the basics and all will probably work out for the companies. Since 2008 our world has changed. Security forces are no longer needed to provide quick response until the public police arrive. Crime continues to fall. Public police (with a few exceptions) are dealing with less crime than ever. the industrial world crime statistics rival the early 1960’s in most cases. In order to survive we in the private sector must look to new services to deliver. Relying on old formulas has caused many formerly profitable companies to close their doors. We are in a similar situation of the horse harness makers were in around the time the automobile was becoming popular. No matter how good you were, the new marketplace wants new services and is not buying the old ones anymore. I believe we will have to specialize as the days of the Security “general store” are over. Adapt or die.
