Violence by patients, families and even staff have caused many security professionals to rethink their risk assessment criteria. Security Professionals must become more proactive rather than reactive. The human tragedy is sufficient reason to get “ahead of the curve” but when you add into the litigation costs as well as any financial penalties the need to be using the best technology available is justifiable. One area that remains the focal point for violence is the emergency areas of any healthcare facility. The incident itself requires added vigilance but when you add the emotion that comes with it you can have an explosive situation.
