Jacksonville Division: “Active Shooter” Kits

We do not have to be afraid BUT we must be vigilant. The threat of a lone gunman threatening or committing violence on a larger unsuspecting group of people is becoming commonplace. Mass murders are not exclusive to this decade or this century but the damage that can be done by one murderer is higher now than ever due to the technology available. Automatic weapons with high capacity magazines are relatively easy to obtain so a single criminal can cause a lot of harm in a VERY short period of time. We encourage people to make themselves aware of how to defend yourself, your family and your coworkers. It is unreasonable to expect citizens to become “Rambo” but it is not unreasonable for people to take reasonable steps to mitigate a mass murderer. We encourage people to consider our “Active Shooter” mitigation training and kit. It may not prevent an active shooter but it will mitigate the harm they can do. Remember hope that it doesn’t happen is NOT a plan.
