International Airports
Today in Ft. Lauderdale another mass murder. This time at the airport baggage claim area. A 26 year old, former military person opened up his legally transported bags and shot and killed five people he didn’t even know. The shocking aspect aside from the mere fact that it happened is the randomness of the crime. This man, without cause or provocation just murdered five people as they waited for their bags to be delivered. I believe it is the random nature of these crimes that are the most mystifying and terrifying to most people. Why would someone do that??? I have believed for some time now that people are generally frustrated with the “system” and are just lashing out. I believe that is how Trump got elected. People seemed to say, we are in pain and we are now going to inflict it on everyone; regardless of guilt. I am afraid that our political system does not lend itself to actually solving these problems as self interest over public duty prevails. Like other great society’s; they rot from within and fall under their own weight. I hope that will not be the case for us.
