How are we going to keep our kids safe this upcoming school year? “Our students deserve better than hollow words,” said National Education Association President Lily Eskelsen Garcia.
According to a report released by the National Center for Education Statistics, more and more schools are using armed security personnel.
Making students and teachers safe at school needs to be a higher priority! While there has been several positive trends, there is so much more we need to do!
Armed security officers are specifically trained for the challenges that arise in our private and charter schools. They send a signal that our schools are being watched and cared for by trained personnel.
Going beyond providing support to students and staff. It’s time we make that shift from our children worrying about their safety while they are at school to creating a safe environment, so they can get back to learning.
Armed security guards have shown to be effective at reducing school violence, bullying, use of drugs and guns.
Ronald Stephens, executive director of the National School Safety Council, agrees with the recent studies, that revealed trained, armed officers can not only help prevent a shooting inside the school, but also deter a possible shooter from entering.
“It sends the signal that the school is being watched and that the care and supervision of children is an important priority,” Stephens said
Our kids deserve better. In a world of fear and anxiety, it’s time to make our children a priority. Curtis Protective Services is proud to be partnering with schools across Florida, building relationships and keeping our students safe.
To help Curtis Protective Officers keep our schools safe, we are excited to enlist the help from our newest addition. Our highly trained bomb detection dog can sniff out explosives and guns, adding another layer of protection.
They also provide a strong, visible and psychological deterrent against criminal activity and threats. Our K9 teams conduct searches for a variety of explosive materials near building exteriors, lockers, parking lots, office areas, vehicles, packages, and people in and around the school.
