Fire Watch duties are becoming an increasingly important for multi family communities, construction sites, pyrotechnics, and commercial businesses. The Fire Marshall’s must ensure that the public is safe while trying to accommodate the realities of fire alarm system failures and repair times.

A fire system can be down for several reasons, replacing fire doors, renovations, power outages or the alarm system isn’t working properly. If your building has employees, tenants, or families, it is a big responsibility. Safety is the utmost priority.

Construction sites are known for being a potential fire hazard. Typically, fire alarm systems are not set up and the water hasn’t been turned on yet. Power tools, fuel, combustible materials, and chemicals, can put the property at a higher risk for fires.

Pyrotechnics and fireworks have become common for celebrations, concerts, special occasions, even weddings. According to the National Fire Protection Association, “Fireworks start an average of 18,500 fires per year, including 1,300 structure fires, 300 vehicle fires, and 16,900 outside and other fires. These fires caused an average of three deaths, 40 civilian injuries, and an average of $43 million in direct property damage.”
