Fires in Orlando, Miami, Atlanta, Ft Lauderdale, and Tampa, Florida are tragic and devastating.  A fireguard can put your mind at ease!

‘An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure’

Whether it is a commercial building or apartment who’s fire system is down due to maintenance or unforeseen circumstances, fire guards play a vital role.  They are  often necessary to keep in compliance with up local and government codes.

For instance, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has a set of guidelines to protect from property and lives from the presence of a fire hazard.

NFPA 101 section 9 states, if an automatic sprinkler or fire alarm system is down for over 4 hours in a 24 hour period, the building is required to have a fire watch service or must be evacuated.

Hotels and motels are another industry that typically requires Fire Guards. Responsibilities include monitoring fire related systems, performing watch duties, writing reports, helping staff and guest with any emergencies, and reporting any urgent incidents to emergency responders in a prompt manner. In the unfortunate event of a fire, they also coordinate orderly and timely evacuations.

They also used to keep a venue or public performance safe. Pyrotechnics and fireworks have become common for celebrations, concerts, special occasions, even weddings. According to the National Fire Protection Association, “Fireworks start an average of 18,500 fires per year, including 1,300 structure fires, 300 vehicle fires, and 16,900 outside and other fires. These fires caused an average of three deaths, 40 civilian injuries, and an average of $43 million in direct property damage.”

Construction sites are another place where fire guards are essential. Usually before the sprinkler or fire systems are installed.
