Atlanta Division: Old Chinese curse, “May you live in interesting times”

An old Chinese curse says, “may you live in interesting times”. This curse seems a little benign until you consider the  implications of the curse. Truly we are all living in interesting times now. World terrorism, national elections with fringe candidates, Syrian refugees, ISIS, world warming, etc. I think we are living in interesting times and must deal with some of the issues that are within our power to manage. I do take comfort in knowing that the collective wisdom of our leaders is incredible. Our Courts work (on the most part). Poverty is being reduced as well as world health issues, especially for the poor. It is easy to think of all that is going wrong but in fairness, we must also recognize all that is going right in the world. There is no doubt that we must continue to work diligently on the issues but with intelligent, moral leadership we will be around a long time to deal with new and even more interesting times.
