This concept makes for interesting questions of liability should collisions take place or simply computer glitches occur. Automated-car technology will introduce into our legal system a new area of liability and new legislation to deal with predictable and unforeseen consequences of the radical change for uses of motor vehicles. The FBI has concerns about the risks involved with this new technology. What will happen if automated cars are used in crimes or their computer system hacked. On the other hand law enforcement may find it significantly easier to monitor vehicles of interest. Insurance companies will in all probability be paying less for collisions but more for the potential liability of the software and hardware manufacturers that supply the industry. We are all in for a very interesting future with driver-less vehicles!!!
