This week once again recorded an commercial airliner being intentionally destroyed by an individual. How can it be that in this world with the technology available to all of us that we allow this to happen. The military can fly drones on missions thousands of miles away from their pilots and conduct missions with pin point accuracy and yet we don’t appear to be able to control commercial airliners from the ground!! I believe that Homeland Security must have the ability and mandate to assume control of any airliner in our airspace or under American “supervision” to be able to be remotely controlled by ground control. If we can control drones we can control airliners. I suggest that any airliner that is not compliant with flight plans or having received approval to deviate from those plans be initially put under surveillance of Homeland security staff and if after proper and approved protocols have been satisfied that Homeland staff take control of any airliner not in compliance. Homeland “pilots” would direct the airliner to land at the first suitable airport for inspection and appropriate action. NO ONE would be able to take over an airplane again simply by taking over the cockpit.International Airports
