Victor HabbickAthletes seem to be showing up more often in the news section of the media than on the sports page and usually for all the wrong reasons. Professional leagues are now taking action against athletes for behavior off the field. We have to ask ourselves if this is the proper thing to do. We all want justice for victims but are the leagues set up to do this? The answer is no they are NOT; the criminal and civil court system is well prepared to deal with misbehavior. This political diversion is terribly unjust and should not be conducted or condoned. America has grown to be the strongest, most powerful nation in the history of mankind, not by accident but in part, by the rule of law. When necessary lets get the athletes out of the boardrooms and into the courtrooms. As long as judges don’t call the plays on the field I don’t think the leagues should be calling the plays in the courtroom.
